A request by email causes skepticism
|
| Can you tell us a little bit about how you became involved with the Radiant Historia project?
Shimomura: Actually, I got a random email from the person in charge of the title over at Atlus. At first I thought it was some kind of joke. Haha. I get a lot of prank emails from "artists" all the way over in Europe and such, and so at first I thought, 'Wait, THAT Atlus? Really?' I had never worked with them before, so the sudden email took me by surprise. But I've played the Shin Megami Tensei series, so I replied to the email with something like, 'I'd like to hear more about this.'

After hearing about Radiant Historia, what were your first impressions?
Shimomura: I've always liked traditional RPGs... Especially the ones where the story branches off and there are multiple endings. When Shin Megami Tensei was release on the Super Famicom, I even took the time to finish all three endings, the Law, Neutral, and Chaos paths. Hahaha. I got a similar feeling from Radiant Historia, and the story sounded interesting too, so my curiosity was piqued. It's also a brand new title, so I was getting the chance to start from a clean slate. They wanted me to create the music as freely as I pleased, so I honestly thought this would be a fun project.
