MAC sources can confirm that Sheikh Abu Hamza, the innocent Muslim scholar and former Imam of Finsbury Park Mosque, was this week brutally attacked and left "bloodied and bruised" by prison warders at HMP Belmarsh, south London.
According to his family, on Tuesday the Sheikh refused to go back to his cell and requested that he be placed in solitary confinement after suffering months of racial and physical abuse from both inmates and prison authorities alike.
But moments later the elderly Sheikh, who is disabled and blind in one eye, was brutally attacked by prison officers and left bloodied and badly injured, needing urgent medical treatment. However, the Sheikh was left for dead in his cell overnight and denied the right to be seen by medical staff.
In May 2004, Sheikh Abu Hamza was falsely imprisoned and convicted of a series of trumped-up terrorism-related offences. Since then, he has completed his sentence but is still being unlawfully detained by UK authorities.
We call upon all Muslims to demonstrate this Friday outside Belmarsh prison and to rise and condemn the callous, barbaric actions of the UK government and prison authorities.
Unlike the many government-sponsored scholars and institutionalised Imams who are silent about the truth and willing to distort Islam in effort to please the disbelievers and apostate leaders, Sheikh Abu Hamza – as well as other respected 'ulama and Muslim activists – is being tested by Allah due to the fact that he dared to speak the truth (the biggest form of jihad) and held firm to his beliefs.
It is his right, as a Muslim, that we defend him, highlight his suffering and support him, no matter what the hate-filled disbelievers and hypocrites think or say about him. It has been authentically reported that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
"Support your Muslim brother, whether he's an oppressor or is being oppressed…" (Saheeh Al-Bukhaari)
