Phew, what a breathtaking piece of film this was. 'La Migliore Offerta' intrigues from the first second, especially thanks to Tornatore's wonderful direction and Rush's brilliant acting. The film is elusive, mysterious and compelling. Sylvia Hoeks plays a very important role and is beautifully recruited by Tornatore. She is convincing and very believable as a mysterious woman, who seems to have quite a few problems with herself. That this is ultimately not the case is hard to believe.

Not only that. Rush not only loses the love of his life, because I really felt that as a viewer, but also his life's work. Spent his whole life on art, his beautiful collection and Hoeks.. gone in one go. As a viewer, I really felt as let down as Rush did. Terrible. Tornatore builds it up beautifully. Atmosphere, music, supporting characters and everything that leads to the particularly strong denouement. Beautiful.

Magnificently!

And what a very interesting premise. Original, intriguing and compelling. With an outstanding Rush and an outstanding acting performance by our own Sylvia Hoeks. The film doesn't make any sense and remains mysterious until the very end. That you can guess where the ending will end is not a bad thing, because it was still different than I expected. Audiovisually beautiful, where everything comes together at the end.

Great, 4.5*.

A man who in his life was only interested in works of art and who has had a successful professional but also loveless existence, undergoes a complete turnaround.
The business life, the mystery, the romance, the upheaval are the successive phases in the film that are all very captivating but are certainly beautifully staged and visually beautifully presented.
Between the beautiful, atmospheric and tone-setting opening scene with the stoically arrogant head of the main character and this of the broken, but still hopeful man lies a beautiful piece of film.
Nice rendition of Geoffrey Rush although no opponent is out of the ordinary.
"Nuovo Cinema Paradiso", "Stanno Tutti Bene", "Una Pura Formalitá" "La Leggenda del Pianista sull'Oceano", "Malèna"...Giuseppe Tornatore guarantees a great movie experience.
