"The Most Electric Performance That Ever Shocked and Fascinated an Audience!"
Joe E. Lewis (Sinatra) is a famous comedian and a talented singer. During an attempt on his life, he loses his singing abilities. Years later, his friends track him down and try to get him back on track. Through this, he meets Letty Page (Crain). The two fall in love and she urges him to become a comedian again. But Joe has problems: the attempt on his life has turned him into a gambling addict and alcoholic. He decides to use these problems in his acts. This proves to be a great success in business, but it turns his personal life upside down.
