Nice. Found the pace very pleasant, otherwise nice depressing stuff indeed. Icy atmosphere that leads to a climax towards the end. Might take a little too long, but what Miike does...it does well again. In the end perhaps a little too safe and familiar, but meticulously cared for and at times very uncomfortably exciting.

Miike tries hard to inject some originality and creativity into the long-haired ghost girls genre. Initially it seems to be a serious addition to the list of similar titles, but then the brakes are released and it becomes an absurd roller coaster ride of action-packed encounters with the other side. This is more of an honorable tribute than following the rules neatly, with the downside that it doesn't want to get really scary.

The typical J-horror of the late 90s eg early 00s. In the line of Ringu, Ju-On, all later with an American remake or more. Still prefer the original, I'm a J-lover now This one also remains very easy, wonderfully creepy atmosphere and steefs with a relatively small budget.
