Contamination (1980)

Yes, this is nice. Contamination excels at dialogue. The opening of the film immediately sets the tone with a group of scientists who keep saying out loud what they are doing:

>i see a door.

>yes

(Opens door)

That line continues throughout the film, making the way in which the good guys find out the truth inimitable. Add to that the nice effects and a cool soundtrack and you have a win. A bit boring in the middle, therefore not an absolute topper. But definitely one I'm going to watch again.

Moderate pulp.

It may be clear that the film was borrowed from Alien, although you can also give Cozzi a little credit in turn. He also has the Mother Queen from Aliens in his film right away, that's a prediction that came true then.

Furthermore, a film that manages to fascinate more in the beginning than in the end. Mainly because there is quite a bit of repetition. For example, the exploding bodies are still funny in the beginning, but when it turns out that that is the only effect they know and that has to be repeated over and over, the fun is over after a while. Just like with the eggs, by the way.

It's all very cheesy, but the atmosphere is still reasonable. Also enough genre nonsense to hold the attention somewhat and the Goblin soundtrack is an added value, although it is not so good that she can save the film.

Not disastrous to see for once, but in the end there was not much quality to be found in this film.

Mwah, the link to Alien is often highlighted, but I didn't really have that feeling, not even with those eggs. That is still a completely different thing because here the eggs provide a kind of virus and mucus that makes your body explode after a few moments, causing bloody scenes. The scene in the shower is built up excitingly and the music creates a suitable atmosphere. I thought the cast was rather mediocre and the cyclops, the creature, looked bad. The course of the film was rather unexpected, I expected more of a SF film with scenes in space and a fight for survival against the alien. The film has a completely different approach. 6/10
