This is a somewhat strange film, judging by the title/poster and the idea that this is an Italian video nasty. The film is remarkably serious and the term cannibal is clearly interpreted differently than, for example, Cannibal Holocaust. It's not really a horror movie, more an action movie, although that also falls a bit short. What remains is John Saxton and Giovanni Lombardo Radice who contracted a cannibal virus as veterans. The film zooms in on their psychological instability (especially Radice) which is a bold choice for a video nasty. They can carry the film very well in terms of acting (not the norm of the video naties either). It is exciting, but not in a horror way. It doesn't really get very dirty either, since I had set myself up for it, that was a bit of a shame. All in all, it's an OK film, but one that was not at all what I expected.

Little apocalypse in this messy but entertaining low-budget cannibal movie. Oddly enough, the plot reminded me a bit of First Blood. Some gore scenes here and there, especially towards the end, but the film is absolutely tame compared to most of its peers. Unfortunately also quite boring, with a slowly dragging first hour in which there is mainly endless talking. Fortunately, the characters are colorful enough to entertain you and the wrong 80s soundtrack, with a high A-Team content, quickly puts you in the right mood.

Bizarre film about two Vietnam war veterans who are rescued, but have retained cannibalistic tendencies. John Saxon plays an officer here who can save the two, but is also bitten himself and thus gradually gets the urge for meat. The pace is quite high due to a lot of action moments and there are enough gore scenes in the film. There are also some side plots in the story such as Elizabeth Turner who plays Saxon's wife and has another affair. The fact that Cinzia De Carolis plays the girl next door and makes Saxon a bit horny also provides a strange angle. Smooth movie with quite a bit of action and plenty of gore. 6.5/10
