Lesser Argento.

This is my second Argento, and I can already see what styles he uses. It is also why he is so famous as a horror director. With certain sizes I can see why, but I didn't find this Tenebre very interesting. Then give me the much better Suspiria.

This film also shares some similarities with Suspiria. The murders are again presented with great detail and a separate music is played in the background. Regularly separate camera movements and bright red blood.

However, I have to conclude that this film is a bit more "realistic" compared to Suspiria. And therefore less fun. Suspiria felt like some kind of fairytale. But this one is really just a detective thriller. I can't exactly call this horror.

Fortunately, the kills still manage to captivate and often and fortunately continue for a long time. Sometimes they are a bit more boring, but the very first kill certainly sets the tone happily. The rest of the kills are a little less interesting but still fun. However, only one stands out. The squirting arm.

Also here beautiful, bright red blood that is splashed. But otherwise the film has less to offer. The acting is pretty bad and the rude accents are not convincing. But it is mainly the story that lets it down. Now story isn't a big factor in Argento movies either, but there has to be something to captivate, and there just isn't here.

Too bad, because Suspiria was a lot of fun back then. This one is much less and mostly boring. Then those 101 minutes are quite long.

Delicious Giallo that I had seen much earlier, I discovered while watching, which by the way must have been a long time ago.
Movie cliché: when it starts to rain in a movie, it is usually announced with a loud thunderstorm, just out of nowhere lol...
Perhaps the comic is in the 'amateurish': she in perfumery, the camera peeping at her through the killer's eyes, between the perfume bottles, panting heavily. Or sometimes very bland, Jerry Zucker-esque: a throat is cut and in the next shot we see a garden sprinkler. Situations that happen absurdly slowly, that are stretched as it were, like the girl being chased by two Dobermans, that seems to last and last. In any case, it does make you laugh. De Palma did just that, often in slow motion: Carrie lathering up, the elevator scene in Dressed to Kill...
The murders are so nice and theatrical and over the top: 'You pervert, pervert!' Beautiful women by the way.
It wasn't until the last minute that I realized who the killer was, I thought that was clever. If the killer steps into the picture and you only see his shoes then you know: now the camera goes up.. and yes! The camera slowly moves up and at that moment, very strange indeed, you suddenly realize who the murderer is. Really fantastic!
Also very witty and very dry: the kleptomaniac who wants to pay out her sentence in kind at the police station and the officer who immediately agrees haha..
