Hachikô Monogatari plot
"Love between a dog and his master. A story of devotion, which transcends time and space."
Hachiko is a loyal dog who takes his master to the station every day and then waits for him again. But when his boss doesn't come back one day, Hachiko comes to the station at the same time for nine years to wait for his boss. During his wanderings at the station and through the surrounding area, he comes into contact with local residents and employees.

Better.
Not very much, but just better. The entire film is less hyped up and controlling than the remake. That's quite strange, because since I had seen the remake first, you would think that with this film I would get a better idea of what was coming. The opposite is true.
The acting is decent, the leisurely pace clearly works in the film's favor and the sentiment never becomes annoying. The bond between professor and dog is nice (it also helps that you don't have to watch a whole movie about Gere) and although the death of the professor comes a bit quickly and here too the ending is too repetitive there isn't really a weak moment.
The music is a lot less, rather cheesy tunes that don't really improve the atmosphere. Furthermore, a very good film, everyone is good at heart and everything runs very well, even the ending can hardly be called sad.
Cute movie, slightly better than its remake, but I really don't see the genius in it. Nice animal film that is not too corny, but it is not much more than that.

I like the original Japanese version a little better than the one with Richard Gere. This one also remains quite sentimental, but all in all it's not too bad. I can imagine that as a dog lover you melt away. It's just a nice film in a great setting of a couple caring for a dog.
Entertaining and indeed not annoying. Quietly rippling along, perfect for viewing with the family. Good acting and some nice scenes do the rest.
