Here Comes Mr. Jordan plot
"A picture different from anything ever screened before!"
This fanciful story begins when Joe Pendleton (Montgomery), who is going to attempt to win the world heavyweight title, is accidentally killed in a plane crash. It soon becomes apparent that poor Joe's death was caused by a miscalculation by a fallen angel (Hortons). And so Joe arrives in heaven fifty years early. The controller of the 'heavenly express' Mr. Jordan (Rains), tries to correct the mistake by lending Joe the body of a recently murdered millionaire. In his new outfit, Joe tries to persuade his former somewhat confused manager to help him with a new world title, and in the meantime Joe also falls in love. Ultimately, Mr. Jordan manages to give him the body of a test boxer.

The premise of Here Comes Mr. Jordan is perfect. This translates into a very good start to the film. But at a certain point, the good feeling about this film starts to fade. This is mainly due to the talking of the main character. I don't know if the best man has an IQ of 60, but he talks that way. Especially the constant asking stupid questions of Mr. Jordan didn't work well for me. It may not sound logical, but if the main character had been a little smarter, I would have given the film at least 4 stars. Then the movie would probably be a lot shorter.

Very nice movie. Nice story and great supporting characters. Yet the film is missing something. For example, the direction of a great comedy talent (Billy Wilder, Preston Sturges, Ernst Lubitisch) and certainly also a leading actor who carries the film (Jimmy Stewart or Cary Grant or something). It could have been one of the funniest movies ever made, but it's still worth checking out for fans of old movies.

Nice fantasy story that, just like its sequel (down to earth), offers great fantasy entertainment.
Jordan and his assistant are played by the same actors, otherwise the story is quite different but with more or less the same atmosphere and humor.
