Start of a series of fantastic movies

I have always appreciated the use of real people as turtles.

This gives so much value to the characters.

Still a pleasure to watch this turtle movie

“COWABUNGA!”

Seen very often. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles feels a bit dated and Splinter in particular now comes across as very funny (no Yoda), but the fighting and pizza-eating turtles keep their charm. More humorous than suspenseful or dramatic, and in that regard, this is the ultimate film for children. For me, it's youth sentiment, and it's nice to see the film again.

What a fantastic youth sentiment. When I was 9 years old, I rented this one with my best friend and we split the cost. He a few guilders, and so am I. First watch it together, and then we each had the film for a few days... To watch it at least 8 more times, to squeeze the maximum return from those few guilders.

My oldest son (group 4) had the indication that he could also read subtitles with his CITO reading score. Of course I didn't let myself be told twice, and yesterday we watched this cult classic together. He was able to follow it well and loved it.

And me too of course. The acting, the choreography and the sets, it's all not top notch. But it was a milestone in costumed actors, animatronics and puppets. And that still looks more than fine today.

The biggest plus is that the film mainly harks back to the comics and ignores the well-known, but also completely silly, cartoon from the late 80s.

3.5 stars well deserved.
