Les Volets Verts plot
Jules Maugin is an actor who was at the height of his glory in the 1970s. Now, however, its glory has mostly fallen into oblivion. Despite his famous personality, his big mouth and the social circle of people around him, Maugin has an intimate side. This is exposed now that he learns from his doctor that he no longer has long to live with his current lifestyle.

Film adaptation of a book by Simenon and quite different from what the man made to Maigret and co-material as fodder for many filmmakers, possibly also Jacques Becker, father of director Jean Becker who was responsible for this "Les Volets Verts".
Actually a psychological film, say a character study of a famous actor on his return.
The film is not a high-flyer, but it remains light-hearted throughout the drama that unfolds and it is, in any case, enjoying that old fat boy, who has become Gérard Depardieu, with his film friends Fanny Ardant and Benoît Poelvoorde, not for the first time with him in a film, the sometimes funny to witty dialogues, the one-liners too and also the occasional warmth and emotion that radiates from it.

A small insight into the life of the famous actor Jules Maugin. His popularity is inversely proportional to his tact and kindness. He often walks around as a irascible grouch. His old love rejects him and his life, soaked in alcohol, continues to drift along.
However, he meets the endearing Alie and her daughter Baba. Is there a white core hiding somewhere under that hard shell?
The film is characterized by excellent acting. Although not the most memorable role of Depardieu, he feels at home. Fine dialogues too and a nice alternation between stage performances and life off the stage. A bit simple presented - think for example of those taxi rides - but quite entertaining.
