A dramatized reconstruction of the personal story of protagonist Yfendo van Praag, who makes a very creditable debut as Joey, who after a while lived with his uncle [Benjamin Vlijt] and aunt [Aisa Winter] because his weed-addicted mother Daphne [Romana Vrede] was unable to care for her children. Now that she seems to have improved her life, Joey chooses to return to his mother with his little brother Ricardo [Eliyah de Randamie]. He is obliged to follow a meaningful daytime activity and through social worker Frouwkje [Lilith Vermeulen] Joey ends up at the dance studio of Julian [Sean William Bogaers]. Well-written and acted psychological drama shows the emotional rollercoaster that children of drug-addicted parents can get into. Daniel Kolf makes a big impression in his small role as Joey's oldest brother, a flamboyant loose cannon whose flamboyant self-confidence tempts Joey to fall back into the negative spiral that his dance lessons are trying to get him out of. Van Praag appears in the epilogue with his real family.

A film about a 15-year-old boy who returns from his foster family to his unstable mother. Unfortunately not a very original fact for a film, although it is special that the film is based on a true story and that the real protagonist is also the main character in this film. And so special that a feature film was chosen and not a documentary. But that doesn't automatically make it a good movie. He changes quite a lot. There are very nice scenes in it but also very weak scenes. The film therefore does not come across as balanced and sometimes even feels difficult to get through. I tend to hit the flush button then. Even though the main characters are usually well acted. But this film is not enough for me. The film is also made a little too much for the target group or for schools, because unfortunately many young people will probably recognize themselves in this film.

Violent and sad, it did me a little more than comparable films. This is largely because the story and the acting are very believable.

It's just a pity that it was filmed quite ugly, sometimes detracted from the whole.
