God's Own Country plot
Young Johnny Saxby runs his ailing father's farm in Yorkshire, England. The communication between father and son reflects their negative living and working conditions. The father's expressions are usually limited to succinct criticism of his son. Johnny's grandmother takes a stoic attitude. A frustrated Johnny goes through his grueling daily routine. In an attempt to escape the hard daily grind, he occasionally has superficial sexual relations and drinks in the pubs. In the spring, a Romanian farmhand is recruited for the season. He is the same age as Johnny, who at first looks at him with suspicion. However, the initial tension between the two men quickly fades and the two develop an intense relationship that deeply affects Johnny.
