'Air' tells the true story of shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro. To create an iconic sneaker for Nike, he teams up with a basketball player named Michael Jordan. The deal will result in great success and is the impetus for many other elite athlete agreements.

What a fun movie! Really worth it, very entertaining. Nice to see another movie by and with Ben Affleck, together with Matt Damon. We enjoyed the music from those years, the acting, the story! More movies like this will be released tomorrow.

Not just a film about the most important deal ever for Nike, but for sports marketing as a whole. At the end you will see how many Jordan shoes have been sold, but a little before that it is Affleck who makes a much more important comment: doesn't this set a precedent? Yes, because where there was still talk of a budget of USD 250,000 for 3 players per year (less than a million even in inflation terms now) big athletes get millions a year these days. And it concerns many athletes in many branches of sport.
Well, the film then. You shouldn't expect any details with Affleck, but he knows how to put together a light-hearted film like this expertly. Full of clichés (that is), just the soundtrack and that editing in the beginning, but well done and therefore easy to watch. Number of fine actors in which Bateman comes across as particularly strong. Only Affleck himself is a bit too caricature, but with comic timing he manages. In the end a nice insight into the world of that time, undoubtedly greatly simplified (there must have been harsh words) but the film remains very light in tone) and this is certainly not a deep psychological office drama but very pleasant entertainment. 3.5*.

Air is a wonderfully shot film that manages to create a nostalgic feeling from minute 1 with Dire Straits. What surprised me most in a positive way is the lightness (pun intended) with which the story is told. There is a lot of humor in it and the cast is really excellent. These are those roles that are ideally suited to Damon, Affleck, Bateman and Davis. Nothing but praise. The image of the time is also convincingly portrayed and after seeing this film you immediately feel like putting on a pair of Air Jordans, playing a game of basketball and then turning on the Last Dance on Netflix. When a film manages to create that feeling, the film has succeeded.
Keep in mind that the story is never surprising, very feel good, has little to no conflict and therefore lacks a tension arc. In that area it colors just too much within the lines to be really excellent. But the goal for which the film was made, an ode to (Air) Jordan, has been achieved!
