A Street Cat Named Bob plot
"Sometimes it takes nine lives to save one"
After a difficult childhood, Bowen became homeless and became addicted to heroin. In the spring of 2007 he was on a methadone program and living in a London flat as part of an assisted living project. In the hall of the flat he found an injured cat. When he couldn't find an owner, he took the cat to a vet, who prescribed antibiotics. For the duration of the cure, he took the animal into his home while continuing to search for its owner. When he still hadn't found it after the two weeks of the cure, he released the cat into the street in the hope that it would return to where it came from.

Good film about a homeless junkie who finds himself on the ground and gets help from an unexpected source. A beautiful, personal true story. Sentiment is reasonably kept to a minimum and luckily street life and the difficult road to drug addiction are not portrayed too rosy. Luke Treadaway is well cast and the pov shots from the cat are nice.

A very beautiful movie. I've been curious about it for a long time and I'm glad I found it in the library and finally saw it. I think it's an interesting story. I like movies in which animals play a role. Good acting. Only the two girls did not seem very credible to me when Bowen came to visit his father with Bob. Also nice because of the music in between. A sweet cat that is excellently cast, and not a bloated love story between Bowen and Betty, but just pleasant. The movie really touched me. Of course I give a high score. 4.5*

As a cat lover, I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. A Street Cat Named Bob is predictable and not very original, but it wasn't really meant to be. The makers wanted to adapt the story of James Bowen and Bob the cat, and that is special enough in itself. The cat they used during the filming deserves a special animal Oscar, as he is the real star of the film. No matter how well Luke Treadaway does.
