I think the dentists are happy to recommend this film so that they can fill their own wallet with this sugary film. Where I think the Notebook is a really beautiful film, and was also good in terms of sweetness, this film missed the mark a bit. Unfortunately!

During the love game between the two main characters, all I could think about was how the husband and child of Monaghan's character will feel when they find out. Something tells me the director didn't mean it that way...

As mentioned above, the chemistry between the youngsters is more believable than between Monaghan and Marsden. That made it seem like it was going to be fun in the beginning. But due to the incredible accumulation of cliché moments and the unbelievably mismatched "plot twist" (son who gets unlucky and needs a heart... from the recently deceased Marsden... sigh!), this movie in value. Again: sorry.

If you have a film in which a time difference of twenty years has to be bridged, you can either choose to make the actors younger or older with a huge heap of grime, or you can choose actors who are very similar. The latter variant will not even have been really tried in this film - the young variants hardly resemble the old ones. And then as a viewer you understand what the intention is, it is quite disturbing.

The only decent actor in the whole bunch seems to be Michelle Monaghan - at least she shows some nice scenes. The rest just depends. The pictures are beautiful, that helps a bit, but on the other hand there is the somewhat nagging story that also had to have a meaningful ending if necessary. A flight of stairs for the viewer, that's what it feels like. Unfortunately.
