Two-Lane Blacktop plot
"You can never go fast enough..."
Two car enthusiasts drive the endless roads of the southwestern United States in search of car races. They drive a Chevrolet and use the money they win from racing to keep the car in good condition. Outside of cars, the two have little to say to each other. While dining in Arizona, they meet a girl who goes with them. Later, they meet an old bum traveling across the United States in his brand-new GTO. He challenges them to a cross-country race to Washington DC where the winner gets the loser's car. But along the way, interest in the race begins to wane and other matters take over.
