Sügisball plot
"Film for all men with a gentle soul and a bad liver. For those who stand alone in the night. In their underwear."
Talinn, late 1980s. Six residents of a desolate residential barracks on the outskirts of the Estonian capital are looking in vain for happiness and love. The young writer Mati is abandoned by his wife and loses himself in drink and suicidal tendencies. While he is spying on his ex, he tries to hit on other women without much success. Single mother Laura has completely lost faith in men and watches soap operas all day long. When her emotionally neglected daughter Lotta approaches an equally lonely hairdresser, Laura accuses him of pedophilia. Living in this cramped, dreary apartment building is 'an exercise in humility' for the snobbish architect Maurer, but at the same time he loses sight of his own wife Ulvi. She in turn seeks comfort from the wimpy doorman and womanizer Theo.
