Good film in which a hearing-impaired woman hires an ex-con as her assistant. A film about two misfits who use each other and ultimately need each other. Two fascinating characters, who are well portrayed (especially because of the two excellent roles). The plot that is introduced works in both advantage and disadvantage.

Nice Audiard.

The Battre really was a film that stuck to my memory, in a positive way probably. So my interest in this film was soon aroused. Not everything falls into place as flawlessly as with De Battre, but nevertheless this film also charmed me.

Similarities in visual style between the two films are evident, although it seems a little less refined. Less salient details, camera work looks less graceful and controlled. Nevertheless, it is consistently pleasant to behold, and that it easily rises above ground level in that area.

Acting was, as expected, very strong. Apparently Audiard always knows how to choose his actors perfectly, because the cast shines here too. Devos did more than okay, Cassel steals the show as usual and once again confirms why I consider him one of my favorite actors.

It's just a shame that the crime story that crops up in the second part of the film could not interest me as much as the hour before it. Not that it gets boring, but at some point the draft gets a bit. Would have preferred to see it go in a different direction.

Without a doubt a nice film, which certainly does not diminish my curiosity about the rest of Audiard's oeuvre. 3.0*.

Handsome movie.

Rarely have I experienced such a turnaround in a story. Is the first part, little really exciting; the second part more than makes up for it as an excellent thriller and character sketch as well.

Highly movable camera and intelligent transitions increase the tension.

Impeccable renditions
