Beautiful film in which the tension between giving in to oneself or returning to the religious community is perfectly expressed. A beautiful role by Jonas Smulders as Thoma Fontein

Daniël Kooij [Daniël Boissevain] is the pastor of a Pentecostal church. When he decides to continue his work elsewhere, he only confides in his intended successor Thomas [Jonas Smulders]. Thomas cannot keep the secret news from his wife [Selin Akkulak] and soon everyone knows. That turns out not to be the only reason why Daniël then decides to appoint Marjolein Markusse [Sanne Langelaar] as his successor. Thomas feels passed over and ends up in a crisis of faith that forces him to take a critical look at himself, his faith and the ties with the Pentecostal church, including those with his father [Job van Gorkum] and mother [Bianca Krijgsman]. Smulders is good in a drama that does not sufficiently succeed in conveying the implications of Thomas' doubts. As a result, it seems like much ado about nothing.
