La Cosa plot
In 1989, the Italian Communist Party (PCI) carries out a reform, not only to change its name but also to improve its image in front of its voters. Nanni Moretti has documented a series of debates between PCI militants in several Italian cities. Men and women talk about their fighting spirit, their communist idealism, their relations with the ex-Soviet Union and finally the future of their party in present-day Italy.
