The theme – what is the difference between a human and a robot – is as topical as it is milked (Blade Runner already dealt with it, as did Companion, which is now in cinemas). This also applies to the paradox that the robot is programmed to be autonomous – even a feminist: outside the framework of AI, it reminds me of Sartre's view that if God created us, we are not free and if we are free, God cannot exist, but also of the masochism in which the man gives orders to his adored mistress to humiliate him. The short film is nice, but I would have given Wander to Wonder one more Oscar.

Won an Oscar as a short film, but that very length limits the film somewhat. Some things remain quite superficial and go rather quickly, which is why I never really got into the story and the film failed to carry me along. The build-up, with that beautiful version of Creep, is fine, but from that moment on everything goes too fast and wants to tell me too much, which is why you don't feel Parren's despair (even though she plays quite well). The finale then takes more of a rest, but there too things go quickly and it is already too late to really convince. Expertly made and the film certainly entertains but never overwhelms. 3.0*.
