Danny Collins (Al Pacino) is a longtime rock star since the 1970s, who can't give up his turbulent life. When his manager (Christopher Plummer) discovers a never-delivered letter written to him 40 years ago by John Lennon, he decides to change course. He embarks on a heartfelt journey to rediscover his family, find true love and start a new life.

Good film in which a famous old singer finds out that John Lennon once wrote him a letter. A nice feel-good movie with a great story. Fun and funny and sometimes touching (and although the leukemia part could have been better left out, it does make for a nice ending). The characters are a bit cliche, but this is more than made up for by the excellent cast.

Danny Collins [Al Pacino] hasn't written a hit in 30 years, but he still lives on his big hit 'Baby Doll'. Unexpectedly, he informs his friend and manager Frank Grubman [Christopher Plummer] that he wants to cancel the planned gigs in order to put some things in order in his personal life. He books a room at a hotel near Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, where he flirts with hotel manager Mary Sinclair [Annette Bening] and tries to bond with his son Bobby Cannavale], daughter-in-law [Jennifer Garner] and granddaughter [Giselle Eisenberg ] that he has never seen. Pacino's charm goes a long way, because the screenplay is certainly not overflowing with original ideas or ingenious ideas. It's not deep, so this is really only recommended for fans of Pacino.
