"Nature called. Look who answered."
Sonny (Sandler) is messy, undisciplined and irresponsible. In other words, a big kid. His girlfriend no longer sees a future with him and leaves. The next morning, a five-year-old boy shows up at the door. He is the son of Sonny's divorced roommate, but he is currently in China. Julian has been put up for adoption. Sonny decides to raise the boy himself to prove that he can indeed take responsibility.

On par.
The scores in Sandler films vary little. This is because they are often the same and outside it because peripheral matters do not change much. Sandler who once again puts down his character, the romance that half works, the bit parts of Buscemi and Schneider. You can dream those Sandler movies.
Never really find it annoying to watch. Always some successful jokes, Buscemi as often the nicest, light atmosphere and not too much drama. Although it does go wrong here in the end (in the court case).
Not much else going on, 90 minutes of simple but acceptable entertainment.

One of the better Sandler movies. Well that doesn't say much, but Big Daddy has a nice story, some successful humorous moments (the court scene) and decent acting. The greatest strength of the film is the chemistry between Sandler and the young Sprouse brothers, and from there the director manages to deliver a film that lacks a lot of things, but makes a convincing impression at the important moments. And that's important too.

Mediocre film in which a man with no sense of responsibility suddenly has to take care of a child. In itself a fine set-up for a comedy like this. A few entertaining scenes between Adam Sandler and the kid, but it's all too good. The court scenes are clichéd and certainly don't make the film any better.
