"Some friendships transcend lifetimes."
Bailey is living a good life on the farm with Ethan and his wife Hannah and has a nice new playmate: Ethan's granddaughter CJ. But then CJ's mother Gloria decides to take the baby away. As Bailey prepares to trade his current life for a new one, he makes good on Ethan's promise to find CJ and protect her.

Typical family film with a touch of drama and above all a lot of sentiment with all those talking dogs. In itself a nice concept with dogs that reincarnate. Of course based on a lot of coincidences, but with the flow quite a fun film to watch with the kids.
All in all, everything remains airy. Some humor here and there with the voice over for the dogs. The film is by no means disappointing, at least not for the genre. I haven't seen the first one yet, but it looks like it will be within the same expectations.
Pace was good. Just don't film too long. Ideal for a snack in between. Especially nice for dog lovers.

A nice family film to watch with your family, but as a film lover I look at it differently.
A talking dog can be a nice and funny angle, but that principle already feels milked out after 20 minutes. The film has a high Hallmark content, which means that there is no depth in the drama and the credibility is not emphasized. All in all, it can't even be in the shadow of Hachi (2009). *2.5

Still an original concept in itself, but I always get the creeps from that Hallmark gooeyness and visual smoothness. Still surprised at the good reviews for this movie.
