The Promotion plot
"Two guys. One job. No rules."
Doug (Seann William Scott) and Richard (John C. Reilly) are two assistant managers at a supermarket and are both fighting for the position of manager at the new branch of the supermarket chain. It soon becomes apparent that both are ruthless and that they really do anything for the new position. Their clashing personalities make things even worse than they already are.

A comedy that certainly doesn't rely on its humor (which is of course a shame, because that's what comedies are all about). The film occasionally has a funny moment, but overall I thought it was all on the bland side. However, this film is not an absolute disaster, especially thanks to the cast that still does a good job. Both lead actors do what they have to do, so the fact that I can only moderately appreciate this comedy is certainly not due to their acting.

Nice film about two supermarket employees who both compete for an available promotion. The story itself is rather thin and the build-up patchy. But the many situations in the workplace are recognizable and therefore very nice. John C. Reilly and Sean William Scott put down two fairly modest roles for them.

This movie is definitely worth watching.
It shows 2 men yearning for a promotion.
The film is easy to follow with today's knowledge.
If you look closely, you can guess how the credit crisis came about.
The date of this film (9 March 2008) is therefore perfect and the choice for a supermarket as a workplace also comes into its own in the story.
All people try to get ahead for themselves in society in their own way.
The makers have managed to display this in a comical way.
They have therefore already received my appreciation.
