Second Brooks.

His career is one from which I would like to see a few more movies for entertainment, but Robin Hood was really the one I was looking forward to the least. Especially because you can't do too much with a parody film in this genre, but luckily Brooks managed to save himself in that area.

Moreover, I also think this is better than, for example, such a Young Frankenstein that only scores on the screams of the actors. Robin Hood is a bit drier in that area and the humor is especially less subtle and very stupid. That is fine with me, but after a while I was done with it again.

Already in the opening you realize that this is a parody film, and at times a pretty fun one. It's all just very simple entertainment for those who can laugh at the dumbest kind of humor. I can laugh about it myself, but after a while I'm done with it again. The jokes are also going to repeat themselves a bit.

Acting is pretty bad. There are few roles that are very funny, it is mainly the dry moments in between that do it for him. Other than that, the film doesn't have much to offer. It doesn't go on unnecessarily in its own jokes or references to other movies and that makes this movie just a little better than the average parody movie.

Unfortunately it takes a long time with no less than 104 minutes on the clock. I don't understand why the hell Brooks had to stretch a concept like this to such a playing time. The really fun jokes don't run in an assembly line either, and that's why the film misses a bit more often than it hits. Too bad, because I had a good laugh here and there. You do have to watch a movie like this in a corny mood, then you can laugh harder I think.

Oof!

Following a Naked Gun or Hot Shots, Robin Hood also gets a spoof. In any case, it's bland enough, but it's really not funny. Not a moment. No nice protagonist, no nice sidekicks: the comic talent is hard to find, perhaps also inspired by a script without successful jokes. With a playing time of over an hour and a half it becomes a bit long-winded, although I don't think a shorter playing time would have saved much. Except my time.
