Napoleon Dynamite plot

"He's out to prove he's got nothing to prove."

Napoleon Dynamite is a weirdo who goes to school in the town of Preston. He has no friends and everyone thinks he's a loser. He doesn't have many skills, but he can draw mythical beasts well, such as his favorite animal: the liger, a mix between a lion and a tiger. He is in a dance group called 'happy hands club', with which he performs in front of his class. His brother Kip is a chat-addict nerd aspiring to be a cage fighter who has a girlfriend named LahFawnduh. When Grandma has an accident, Uncle Rico comes to babysit Napoleon and Kip. Napoleon finds this unnecessary because Kip is already over 30. Napoleon gets a friend for the first time in his life: Pedro Sanchez. Together they will do everything they can to make Pedro head of the school's student council.

“What are you gonna do today, Napoleon?”

“Whatever I feel like I wanna do. Gosh!”

Very dry and sometimes quite funny. I usually appreciate dry humor and Napoleon Dynamite certainly has its strong moments. The dialogues are especially strong at times. Unfortunately, there are too many moments when Napoleon completely sinks and is almost unbearable.

Even the excellent actors and the short playing time can't change that. The film tries to be different from other average teen/coming of age films and the Napoleon deserves all the credit for that. And the ending is hilarious and moving at the same time.

Glad to see the credits, because I couldn't do much with this. I was carried away by a smooth review in the TV guide. Such types of films score a maximum of 3.5 * anyway, but in my eyes it didn't reach that level if I take everything into consideration.

Still, there were some fun moments here and there. How Napoleon tried to get Trisha to go to prom I thought was very successful. Her reaction was magnificent when she was presented with a self-portrait. I also enjoyed the prom itself and the famous dance of Napoleon. Other than that, it didn't do me much good.

His idiotic expression annoyed me after a while. At first you think in the direction of Dumb & dumber, but there was no change in his facial expression. For the rest moderate to very weak in terms of humor, acting, story, originality ... Maybe a small positive mention of "liger" and co, but otherwise not very good.
