What is the problem that faith has to do with it? If you don't believe yourself, it's easy to criticize. My faith gives strength in my life, even in difficult situations. This movie is beautiful and hopeful...

One of the best movies I've seen about near death experiences.

The actors play great, the directing is also top notch.

Story is complete and correct, twist at the end makes everything complete.

Highly recommended and finally some more attention for near-death experiences.

Riggen immediately portrays the community in the Texan village where this story (“based on true events”) takes place as the heavenly paradise for devout, white, American believers. The sun is shining on the Beam family ranch, the three daughters are happily romping about in their well-behaved Sunday dresses, the local pastor [John Carroll Lynch] proves to be a sympathetic, humorous pastor, and his audience nods smiling like docile lambs at every biblical wisdom he showers upon them. The Beam family have invested a fortune in a veterinary clinic and run into financial trouble when daughter Anna [Kylie Rogers] develops a swollen stomach. Doctors send Mother Christy [Jennifer Garner] from pillar to post. Her last hope is pediatrician Dr. Nurko [Eugenio Derbez], but he has a huge waiting list. Christy bangs her fist on the table and (what a miracle) gets her way, but that doesn't mean Anna will be able to heal. Propaganda for white, fundamentalist Christians with racist undertones gives you more than enough reasons to turn off the television prematurely. However, Wayne Péré impresses as the father of a girl Anna befriends in the children's hospital, and actually managed to put a lump in my throat. Without it, this would have received the lowest possible rating. During the credits we see the real Beam family.
