The film De Vuurlinie is an intense film with a good story about Marco Kroon. Who doesn't know this man? When this came up with Marco, I also had my doubts about his innocence. But if things from the film are correct, then Marco had a tough time during his years in service and the entire accusation against him is completely unjustified.
What I understand is that the film is mainly based on the book that Marco Kroon wrote. So you can always ask yourself what is really true. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, after all he was acquitted.
The film is well made, nice camera work and good action scenes. The most intense scene is definitely with that boy (around 12 years old), who is made available to have sex with. They think they can free this boy and later they find him again. Tortured and hanged by his hands.
Waldemar Torenstra (Marco Kroon) and Sallie Harmsen (Mirjam van den Hoven) are a couple from North Brabant. They both try to do a Brabant accent, but man, man, was it bad. Personally, I don't think Waldemar is a very good actor anyway. I really didn't think the role as Marco Kroon suited him.
But in short: A good, solid and sometimes intense Dutch film.

Good film about the soldier Marco Kroon who receives the highest award from the Queen. An entertaining film. Partly because of the flashbacks in Afghanistan (although at a certain point they distract a bit too much from the main story). Although I have not seen all of his films, it is clear that Roel Reine delivers his best work in the Netherlands. A small 3.5 stars.

The biography was certainly well depicted and was still well known to me. I just couldn't remember the rape scenes. That was even more intense than the mission in Afghanistan itself. It's a pity that it was all for nothing and that the Talitubbies are back in power. I thought it was a good Dutch film with an excellent Toornstra. Angela Schijf just looks so bad. Looks like she's sick
