Ride like a Girl plot
"Never give up"
The story of Michelle Payne, the first female jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. Payne is always told that she will never reach the world level, after all, she is not a man and therefore not strong enough. However, she is not deterred by this and practices hard. Her father Paddy and her family are fully behind her, although she has to deal with fractures and a death within the family.

Paddy Payne [Sam Neill] is the patriarch of a family that was born into equestrian sports. His wife died shortly after giving birth to their tenth child, Michelle [Teresa Palmer], and she too is now at an age to pursue the big family dream of winning the prestigious Melbourne Cup. But when her sister Brigid [Anneliese Apps] dies in a race, Paddy tries everything to avoid losing Michelle too. However, Michelle finds support in her brother Stevie [Stevie Payne, playing himself], who inspires her and helps her pursue her dream. But Michelle and Stevie are the only ones who believe a woman will ever win the Melbourne Cup. A biographical drama whose outcome (at least for the insiders) is already clear and which is worth watching because of the good interplay of the three protagonists and well-filmed racing sequences.
