The Last Airbender plot

"Four nations, one destiny."

In a mystical world live different tribes that control one of the four elements: water, earth, air and fire. The only person who masters all four elements is the Avatar. During an attack by the Fire Nation, the Avatar suddenly disappears. 100 years later, two children (Katara and Sokka of the Water Tribe) discover a boy named Aang frozen in a rock. He turns out to be the new Avatar and he has to restore balance in the world. But that's not entirely without danger...

An unbelievable fantasy world, cheesy CGI of water balls and fire rays, an animal mode of transport that reminds me of The neverending story, magical moves that seem to come straight out of the Ministry of Silly Dances textbook, a couple without any chemistry, and very bad acting (but then again, who could do with style flowers like "my life force will leave my body and return to the Moon Spirit"?). Maybe suitable for the upper half of primary school as a target group, but as a fairy tale (or as anything) for adults, I find this hopeless messy work.

Awful.

This has to be the worst I've ever seen.

Ridiculously bad actors who do their thing in a set of plastic colors and disgusting effects.

My girlfriend - not a critical soul either, at least when it comes to movies - said at one point: "Wow, it's just like I'm telling you what the movie is about."

That's how it is. Bad across the board, but really bad. I can't make more of it.

“He will begin to change hearts, and it is in the heart that all wars are won.”

Poor film by Shyamalan. The story of The Last Airbender sounds quite interesting and I have to say that visually it all looks good too. But the acting is really abysmal and the script (the dialogues seem to be written by a 5-year-old) is mediocre. The film never manages to create an adventurous or exciting atmosphere anywhere, and it seems that Shyamalan couldn't choose between a full-blooded children's film and one that should also appeal to adults. The result is neither meat nor fish.
