The Deceivers plot
"How far can a man journey into darkness...and still find his way back?"
Adventure set in India at the time of British rule. The year is 1825 and India is abuzz with rumors of a devil-goddess cult, with a unique language and a deadly appetite for gold and other treasures. The stories reach William Savage, until then tax inspector, who is determined to unravel the mystery. He disguises himself as a native and undertakes the dangerous mission. Savage only informs his wife and best friend of his plans. He infiltrates the cult, is eventually accepted by the leader and initiated into their ancient and terrifying rituals. However, when his cover is about to be revealed, he realizes how much the Thugge have taken possession of his mind.
