World sequel to part 2. Brings together all the good things from parts 1 & 2 and also comes with some new ideas. Had a great time with this movie and on to the next 2 parts that James Cameron wants to make

Sixth film in the Terminator series, conveniently ignoring parts 3 to 5.

Terminator is a series that I have completely followed in the cinema from part 2, as a 12-year-old boy my parents allowed me to go to the film Terminator 2 together with a number of classmates and I had the day of my life. It is mainly the enormous goodwill of T1 and T2 that this series can still appeal to me at all, because the parts after this are hardly worth mentioning. With the exception of Terminator: Salvation , not a single Terminator has tried to come up with anything new. It's the same story every time. I had hoped that with Cameron's input something new would be brought, but alas. In many ways Terminator: Dark Fate resembles a direct copy of T2, but worse in almost every way.

It's nice to see Linda Hamilton back in her role and Schwarzenegger also fulfills as the indestructible T-800 (long live the world of CGI). Mackenzie Davis is still OK, but she's definitely not Arnold Schwarzenegger. Gabriel Luna I didn't like the new advanced Terminator 3x. That has not so much to do with his acting, but more with the fact that it is all starting to get a bit ridiculous (a mistake that was also made in parts 3 and 5).

Dark Fate is another Terminator film that doesn't do the series any good. The excess of CGI kills the film and the action scenes, although beautifully filmed, are not very memorable. It just seems like Terminator's story is pretty much told after part 2. The movies that have come after it bring nothing new, and while Terminator: Salvation tried, that movie was also a mockery in terms of execution. I still had hopes that the series would be revived with the return of James Cameron, but he also apparently has no new ideas for this franchise.

Well, I was afraid of it, but Dark Fate is even worse than expected. It's a totally soulless and shameless attempt at a reboot of T2, but instead of imitating the positive things like the grim atmosphere or oppressive threat, they choose to steal pieces from the screenplay and then wrap them in a modern multicultural girl power vehicle, in which the mutual bickering predominates. Add bad CGi, flying people, a metal-tired Arnie and a lot of standard slow-motion footage á la Deadpool and you have another Hollywood product that is an embarrassment to the franchise. Let it rest.

1.5*
