Nice action movie. The story is a bit standard but has a nice unexpected twist. The effect has been successful. Thanks to Stallone, the film has a nice 80s feel. The film has a good structure and a good pace. There is plenty of action and suspense. The action scenes look good but are not very innovative or spectacular. Other than that, it's just nice to enjoy without having to think too much. The acting is fine. Visually everything looks good. Great entertainment. 3.5

Movies with superheroes are many. Movies with superheroes that are something other than the umpteenth standard concept of a movie with a superhero appear less often. Samaritan is one such movie. A dirty action film with an average story in which gloomy dramatic elements are interwoven that cut deeper than the average. The setting of an impoverished neighborhood in a gloomy city called Granite City is beautiful and gives the drama extra gloom.
Here people live on the fringes. Here live the people who have withdrawn from society. The former superhero Samaritan also lives here. He is very graphically played by Sylvester Stallone. The grumpy elderly hero is disappointed in the world and carries a visible suffering with him. Samaritan is an interesting character and is excellently played by Stallone.
Although the setting and the hero's clothing differ from the standard superhero film, the story follows that standard. A battle of good against bad filled with action. It's classic superhero stuff with the indestructible action hero Stallone at its center. Fortunately, the action remains far removed from the sensational effects that you encounter in Marvel films. The action is less dependent on the effects machine and more on the old-fashioned solid handiwork. I think that's positive. It makes the film less dedicated to the special effects and looks less smooth than is usual in such films.
Samaritan is a fun superhero movie about an emaciated hero. A remarkable and interesting approach, which offers space for dramatic elements that are explored a little deeper than is usual with the regular superhero. In the end, the film still follows the standard story, but the gloomy setting and Stallone's character nevertheless provide a lasting dark and mysterious atmosphere that keeps the film interesting.

You will not easily be disappointed with Stallone, he always delivers at least a decent film, although his heyday is over.
I thought this foray into the superhero genre in which we fortunately do not get an abundance of obvious fake CGI for our choosing was successful .
The bad guy is also quite well cast and plays his role with conviction .
