I think they knew this was going to be the last part, because the movie feels very full with too many storylines that are barely fleshed out. Venom can be seen on the poster, but is very unclear in the picture, Sandman is not bad but then you have the stories with Mary Jane Watson/Gwen Stacy, Harry Osborn and Peter Parker struggling with himself. The director does not succeed in connecting all those roads in a dignified way. In some cases the acting is also just plain boring, certainly not a fan of Tobey Maguire who has to play even more Parker than usual.

The film is good here and there with some nice scenes, but the whole is a mess with a lot of ballast that could be cut. Nice entertainment, but too lighthearted so that the attention quickly disappears.

As far as I'm concerned, the funniest and best of Sam Raimi's trilogy. Lots of speed, almost "old-fashioned" FX that feel nice and solid and physical, different plot lines (Flint/Sandman, alien substance/Venom, Harry, MJ) that are neatly rounded off, nice supporting roles, and above all great playing: Maguire and Franco know because of their acting suddenly create other (more obscure) personalities, and MJ's grief is almost palpable in Dunst's playing on the bridge. Oh yeah, and Maguire as a would-be Casanova is hilarious. Seven quarters of an hour is a long time, but I was never bored and I was carried away regularly.
