"Real spies... only smaller"
Carmen and Juni think their parents lead a boring life. However, they do not know that Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez were secret agents, but gave up these jobs for the children. However, the disappearance of some former colleagues means that the Cortezjes have to go back to their old jobs. What they have not taken into account is that their children will also interfere in business this time.

A film that is primarily intended, which also shows with moments. As little story as the average blockbuster and the humor is also not really daring. Sometimes something nice comes up, but it's too thick to be really funny. Nice idea, but just an excuse to introduce kids to James Bond at their level.

Very nice and beautiful children's film. It's just not too clumsy or too childish. The music is nice. And the story is original.

Clearly a film intended for young viewers without taking any notice of the older viewer. Not that this is necessary of course, but a director like Rodriguez can expect that his loyal fans who followed him to this film will not all react equally enthusiastically.
Spy Kids is a very simple and light-hearted movie. Colorfully presented, but that's about all. Visually very clumsy (and not even in a charming way). Kitschy CG, annoying characters and a childish plot that barely manages to attract attention.
I don't rule out the fact that it's a pretty nice film for children, but I didn't think it was worth peeking at myself. So I put the rest in the freezer for a while. Half an extra for the colorful decoration, that's all I can make of it.
