Ride Along plot
"Propose to this cop's sister? Rookie mistake."
Security guard Ben (Kevin Hart) wants to marry his lover Angela (Tika Sumpter). However, there is one problem: Angela's brother James (Ice Cube). James is a police officer and he is not happy with Ben. He gives Ben a chance to prove himself by asking him to take part in a full-day police service. Ben accepts the offer, but soon regrets his choice.

Quite a fun humorous action movie, kind of a mixture of Beverly Hills Cop and Lethal Weapon, on the understanding that it never really gets as good as one of those two. It's a pity that the strong, crazy starting point (the garrulous Ben who has to form a combination with the no nonsense cop James) is gradually being released and the emphasis is on the standard action scenes. So in terms of humor could have been done more, especially because Hart is doing quite well here and it even seems as if Ice Cube can act (which is not the case). Mrs. Sumpter is also more than worth the attention, the downside is that someone of Laurence Fishburne's caliber is put away in a thankless role. Definitely go and watch the sequel if it ever comes my way, the third part that is currently in the making seems a bit too much of a good thing to me.

An okay action/comedy film that really excels at nothing and is also a bit too bland in terms of comedy. But you can gradually expect these elements with a name like Kevin Hart in the cast, and you see his humor often.
Often too annoying screaming humor at a number of quite misplaced moments. Ice Cube was fine in his role and stands out above most of the others. The humor is a bit more comical here and there but in general I didn't have to laugh much.
It's not always smooth, but especially the parts where Hart tries to be a real cop in the first part of the film are fun. After that, the film is a bit too standard and it simply becomes quite predictable. Okay to see once.

Gosh yes.
Mediocre buddy film, but actually just what I expected. Kevin Hart is loud, annoying at times and more often not funny than he is: that's how I know him. Ice Cube also performs his usual role with his grumpy head. Other than that, the film really has nothing to do with it. The plot is not very original, but that is also according to expectation. Hart and Cube have to carry the film and do it just well enough for the time allotted to them.
