Street violence and crime. You see it more and more often that innocent people are victims of this. The film shows well that people can become victims of violence in different ways, but above all what it can do to people. Anyone who has ever been exposed to violence, or knows someone who has experienced it, can imagine how tempting it is to take matters into their own hands.

Although the image of London is greatly exaggerated, it is never really disturbing. The film wants to make it look like you have a chance of being attacked by a gang almost every 3 meters, but in reality that is of course less.

I won't waste any more words about the unsteady camera work.. I find it quite disturbing and it doesn't add much either.

This British crime/action film has to rely mainly on the actors, who know how to put down an impressive role. Sean Bean, Bob Hoskins and Danny Dyer... each and every one of them convinced me. Sean Bean was a little tricky to break away from his LOTR character, but eventually it worked. Happy.

Just when you think the violence is coming out of your throat, it turns out that there really is a story underneath. If you give it a chance, you will be positively surprised. Certainly not Love's best work, but not bad either.

2nd Nick Love movie I've seen, after the excellent Football Factory. Outlaw is another hard-hitting British crime film that certainly isn't about tough heroism. We're dealing with Marine Bryant, well portrayed by none other than Sean Bean, who, after seeing all manner of madness and violence unleashed in London's slums, has had enough and decides to play the law in his own hands to to practice military tactics in the ordinary world. But very secretly, officer Walter Lewis lends him a hand, Bob Hoskins again puts down a strong role as that character. His recruits also all have their own characteristics, I especially liked that Gene and that African, who was not assertive at all and was a bit reluctant. Together they go on a revenge quest to teach all social problems that get away with everything a lesson. However, their set-up soon gets out of hand due to peer pressure and, above all, the consequences of their actions.

And that makes it a very captivating film that just shows that the end is missing with such action, but Bryant never stops knowing where the problems start. All very strong. Outlaw was for my part very successful with a hard social undertone. And oh yes, extreme violence is certainly not shunned here.

3.5*

nice action that could have been done more. the base is good; We can all feel the impotence and injustice with regard to the judiciary and the police, with which the feeling of taking matters into our own hands, to a greater or lesser extent. therefore the empathy is great. all the characters go that way and I was afraid there would be a story in which the persons of weak souls with hatred thoughts were unformed into rambos in no time. luckily the characters stay close to themselves for the most part. the film has some interesting twists, such as Hillier's attitude and Lewis's share.
the film seems to be developing well, although it seemed to become a Flight Club spoof during the first joint fight scene. however, the group's 'rising' is going a bit too fast, more time could be taken for that. towards the end there are more stings, such as the coming together again because all now want to kill Manning, although actually only 1 character personally had to deal with it. that the film has to end with a shooting scene with the police and the suggested feeling that they are willing to risk their lives for this is too exaggerated.
and that's a shame, because I'd like to see a slightly more elaborate film with the information discussed here. and go ahead, the gray of Dyer at the end is really good.
