Wreck-It Ralph plot

"The story of a regular guy just looking for a little wreck-ognition."

'Wreck-it Ralph' is the bad guy in an arcade game, but would love to be as much loved as the perfect 'Fix-It Felix': the hero of the game. When the opportunity arises, he secretly switches to the shooting game Hero's Duty to win a medal there. With this he also thinks he can become a respected hero, but it all goes wrong. Ralph has to flee and ends up in the colorful racing game Sugar Rush. Here he meets the lively Vanellope von Schweetz, a "malfunction" in the game. Inadvertently, however, Ralph has brought a virus that threatens the entire arcade world. Will both outcasts be able to save the game and fulfill their dreams at the same time?

Recently seen Ralph breaks the internet in the halls, so this one should not be missing either. I liked the first movie a little less than the second one. Well made and put together with the necessary creativity. Very nostalgic with the arcade games that you can still see today in the amusement parks at the fairgrounds. Nice to see all those bad guys together in some kind of rehab reunion. Strong beginning of the film with, among other things, the deepening of the character Ralph.

About halfway through the film, the whole thing collapses and the entire Sugar Rush world could be stolen from me. Literally too sweet and too sentimental. Towards the end, the film came back to a higher level. Graphically it looked ok and as said the message was clearly displayed. Super predictable at times. All in all certainly enjoyed it, but certainly not an unforgettable animation film. Just solid.

Disney manages to come up with a new formula that appeals to both parents and children. Wreck-It-Ralph [John C Reilly] is an Arcade Game character that immediately reminded me of a cross between Donkey Kong [1981] and Rampage [1986]. The hero of the game is 'Fix-It-Felix' [Jack McBrayer] who is tasked with repairing the destruction that Ralph is causing. However, Ralph is tired of his role as a villain and craves the respect and friendship he could get as a hero. When he visits the world of racing game 'Sugar Rush' out of boredom, he befriends Vanellope [Sarah Silverman], a racer who is just like him an outsider. Could the two help each other?

A funny formula full of arcade game references that probably evokes hidden memories in parents (how could I have forgotten Tapper [1983]? John C Reilly and Silverman are excellently cast and the film has a positive message without ever being pedantic. It's a shame that the story goes a bit out of hand in the last half hour (sic!), but there is more than enough to enjoy.

Saw the film for a second time and I have to say that I liked it much better now. I actually don't recognize myself in the criticism I gave earlier. The movie looks nice and this time I wasn't bored for a moment. This time I also had no problem with the voices of Sarah Silverman and John C. Reilly, which fit the characters perfectly. I do, however, maintain that the character of Ralph himself is moderately animated, with his baby face. The story is quite funny, but it is reminiscent of Toy Story. But in a good way.

Before the review I thought Wreck-it Ralph was one of the lesser Disney's, but now that I've seen it for a second time, it scores a lot higher. Sometimes a revision can completely change the view of a movie after a few years.
