The Long Riders plot

""All the world likes an outlaw. For some damn reason they remember 'em." - Jesse James"

The Long Riders is set just after the American Civil War. For lack of pay, the dreaded brothers James (the Keaches), Younger (the Carradines) and Miller (the Quaids) make their own money with bank and train robberies. Although they strive for peace and a normal life, they continue to fall back into their old habits until the authorities and the population turn against them en masse.

Funny western with a striking cast, consisting of various kinds of real brothers. That is on the one hand very nice, but on the other hand also ensures that the acting is quite variable in level. David Carradine and Stacy Keach excel, while their brothers are quite disappointing.

I also found the setting a bit less and the middle part is not always as strong. The music is great, which also applies to the action, with the last scene clearly standing out in terms of level.

3.0*

Agreeing with Spetie, where Stacy Keach is doing well, his brother James Keach fails by conveying 0.0 emotion. The brothers who play the roles of Charlie and Bob are also almost excruciatingly bad. The action is great again and clearly influenced by Peckinpah.

Can't quite match Andrew Dominik's version of Jesse James, which is arguably the best western since the turn of the century imho.

Weird comments above, as if they lived as fast back then as we do now with our ADHD lifestyle and smartphone addiction. Indicates that the concentration for film is often hard to find. Great Walter Hill film, with enough atmosphere and tension. I even thought the relationship with the women was one of the strongest sides. David Carradine was comfortable in his role.
