"Cable Hogue says … “Do unto others … as you would have others do unto you.”"
Cable Hogue has been tricked and left without water, when he finds a stream that saves him. He likes the place very much and builds a house by the stream and makes money from travelers by transporting them in a carriage. Hildy, a prostitute, moves in with him. All goes well until the age of the automobile arrives.
