La Morte Ha Fatto l'Uovo plot

"See them tear each other apart. Then see what they do with the pieces."

Mondaini thinks he has witnessed a murder in a hotel room. It leads him to set in motion a plan to frame the 'perpetrator', Marco. Mondaini also appears to be working as an advertising man with Marco, who is the manager of a modern chicken farm, which is in fact owned by his wife Anna. He has also bonded with the young Gabrielle - she lives with Marco and Anna since she lost her parents in a car accident - and with her he carries out his plan...

Chic attempt to mix the typical Italian Giallo with artistic arthouse....and then as a director you ask someone who is mainly known for one of the many Django sequels and takes Jean-Louis Trintignant and Gina Lollobrigade as a married couple who are dying of each other in a state-of-the-art chicken farm full of scary equipment and where they are also breeding huge floppy chickens with no head, wings and few bones.
And then Trintignant also kills prostitutes in his spare time.
Not the usual soft porn jazz here, but a ferocious atonal soundtrack with a lot of hammering on the piano, etc.
Fairly weird movie and we don't eat chicken products for at least a week.

Arthouse Giallo well... not only difficult to fathom, but also to reel through despite a few nice shots, a giallo atmosphere but a light version and Gina Lollobrigida.

The story is presented in a hazy and unnecessarily pretentious way with a lot of boring dialogues and few exciting moments. The tension is very hard to find in this work. The location of the chicken farm is cleverly used in this film and provides a few moments where your attention returns to the film. Few kills in this so-called giallo work with an arthouse touch. I had imagined something very different given the cast and the subject. Mediocre video! 5/10

A giallo in which a lot is going on. The plot is well put together with a double love triangle and sexual perversion (or variation if you will). The at times flashy montage using close-ups and the setting of the chicken farm, in combination with the avant garde score, are in line with the popular psychedelic pop culture of the sixties. Without being overdone. Class actually. In terms of mystery driven plot and development, it also reminds me of Antonioni of that time. The story takes its time and will therefore not be for everyone. I myself felt more and more absorbed in images and story. In which nothing is what it seems at first sight. With the underlying theme of biological modification and the development of artificial cultured meat, this film is also far ahead of its time. Definitely an intriguing movie.
