Get Out plot

"Just because you're invited, doesn't mean you're welcome."

'Get Out' follows a couple, Chris and Rose, who have reached the point in their relationship to meet each other's family. Rose then invites Chris to spend a weekend with her parents. At first Chris thinks the family's strange behavior has to do with trying to deal with their interracial relationship, but over the weekend he makes some disturbing discoveries that lead him to another truth.

“Now you're in the sunken place.”

This is still a great horror movie. Get Out combines a creepy and awkward atmosphere with a lot of black humor, and it works great. The first hour, when the tension slowly builds up, was the best part for me, but director Jordan Peele also knows what to do with the sometimes downright horror-like scenes in the second part.

The best scene is in the beginning when Kaluuya and Keener are sitting opposite each other and the goosebumps are miles thick on your arms. Perfectly acted by this duo. The racial element certainly provides a number of cringe-inducing moments in the first hour, but after that it is increasingly released by Peele and he opts for tension, horror and humor (Howery). The 'Where are the keys, Rose?' scene remains great. The last scene could have gone either way, but Peele opts for a feel good ending and that works great. Because the importance of that last scene is certainly not lost, and in addition, after all that subcutaneous tension and discomfort, the viewer is also great.
