Well-constructed thriller in which the story takes place almost the entire film in one location, namely the house of the blind woman where the doll with heroin must be somewhere. The film is given extra shine by the convincing acting performances of Audrey Hepburn, Richard Crenna and especially the shrewd Alan Arkin. Wonderful old-fashioned exciting atmosphere and the scenes in the dark are well developed. The motivation to keep the doll isn't immediately obvious, but Arkin's desire to kill the blind woman makes sense given the cool killer instinct he has compared to the more likable crooks who play Richard Crenna and Jack Weston. This is also powerfully symbolized by the terror Hepburn experiences when she hears the footsteps on Arkin's stairs. 7/10

A blind person is therefore not stupid...

Three criminals terrorize a blind woman in their search for a doll in which bags of heroin are hidden. It starts out really slow. Once Suzy realizes that she is being played by the trio (by which time we are already an hour away), the film has a nice rising tension and even ends in the best Hitchockian tradition. That is why I still come to a 3 *, and this can increase with revision. I don't like Hepburn as an actress. She also disappointed me in War and Peace.

Ah.

These kinds of movies will probably never really catch on with me. I do like the concept behind it though, and Hepburn has a renowned status as an actress. Even today, among a younger audience, there are still many enthusiasts to be seen. I am rather neutral on her appearance.

Actually, a film like Wait Until Dark won't change that much either. These are typically the movies that I would have liked better if I had seen it at a young age or if I had been born 50 years earlier. The way I see it now, it is mainly a film that occasionally catches on, but can hardly really carry on. In any case, I felt little or nothing of the atmosphere.

Some creatively arranged scenes thanks to the concept bring some life to the brewery, but otherwise I found the mutual relationships between Hepburn and her threats on the dull side. As a thriller, it is therefore mainly a matter of sitting and waiting for it to come to an end. Unfortunately I can't do much with that, so I think I will have forgotten the film within a few days.
