Pi is a revision, but it's been a while since I saw Pi again. It is Aronofsky's debut film (as a feature film), a low budget film as well, which won the prize for best director at the Sundance Festival at the time. Aronofsky is one of my favorite actors. Mathematics appeals to me anyway and that's also why I like Pi. Aronosky already shows what he has to offer here. You love it or you hate it, I already belong to the fans of Aronofsky.

Technically, Pi is a tour de force with its visual effects, quick montages and close-ups. The intake of pills is an item that we will see again in his later masterpiece 'Requiem for a dream'. The gray black-and-white images also contribute to the mysterious mysterious context in which the number Pi has been located for centuries.

Max Cohen, an individual with limited social skills focused on numbers and mathematical formulas, who mainly lives in his own world. Aronofsky creates the power of numbers with Pi and turns mathematics into an ominously compelling thriller. The conspiracy theories are flying around you and the Jewish syndicate and stock exchange are keeping a close eye on him. In that respect, the film reminds me a bit of A Beautiful Mind with Russell Crowe. Finally, the voice-over fits Max Cohen's character as a headstrong, introverted eccentric. His solution to get rid of his fantasies is therefore simple, effective and irreversible. Strong movie, without a doubt!

Pretty tasty.

Another Aronofsky added. I have yet to see more of him, but I'm now on 5/7ths of his feature films and I think that's quite a lot. So far there has been no real disappointment. I believe every film of his has been rated above 3.0*, and Pi is no exception. Not as good as some other titles in my opinion, but still very solid.

Cheaper than his other films, but Aronofsky shows what he's capable of early on here. The direction is sometimes exceptionally strong, especially during the scenes that radiate more craziness it all burns loose. The editing and editing are sometimes lightning fast, very fitting to the images, so that sometimes a nice special feeling dominates.

I didn't like the acting very much. There isn't much for protagonist Gullette to prove himself with either. He has to do his thing now, but it could have been a little more special. Both Gullette and Aronofsky could have taken care of that, because now you seem to be following a slightly too "normal" character. He is anything but normal, but his appearance looks so sad.

Furthermore, there are some unfortunate moments of editing between the quieter moments and the story itself is not very interesting to follow. It is especially the intense directing itself that makes it worthwhile. Most other users seem to like this quite a bit too, which is understandable of course. It makes the film itself a fun whole with a lot of pace to keep things intriguing.

It's a shame that outside the directing, in my opinion, it offers too little to keep it really interesting all the time. The craziness and chaos are sometimes excellently worked out and the film gets a kick out of that, but otherwise I didn't find it very interesting. The many conspiracies that occurred in it didn't really charm me either. Very strong on certain fronts, but it won't be a favorite.
