As a comic book fan, Jon Hamm dreams of landing a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
With the expanding movie universes of Marvel and DC dominating the box office over the last 15 years, A-list stars are falling over themselves to get involved.
The likes of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson may be gone, but there is still plenty of star power left in the MCU with names like Samuel L. Jackson, Harrison Ford, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston involved in current or upcoming projects.
One A-lister who wants to join the fun is Hamm, who has thrown his name in the hat to perhaps play Doctor Doom in Fantastic Four.
"I don’t know. Those decisions get made at such a high level at this point, definitely above my pay grade," he told ScreenRant about the possibility of joining the MCU.
"I would love to. I’ve been a fan of Marvel Comics and comics in general since I was probably single digits. I think there are tons of stories that I’m familiar with, at least, that are still out there to be told.
"Hopefully, whatever their plans are, they include me. But if not, I know that they have a pretty deep bench of folks that are ready to be a part of those stories. There are certainly a lot of stories in the X-Men world to be told. Fantastic Four as well, 'Doctor Doom'. There are so many great things out there. But yeah, I hope I get a chance. Who knows?”
Jon Hamm as Mister Sinister?
Hamm previously responded to rumours that he had been cast in a new X-Men movie as Mister Sinister.
Around the time of the release of X-Men: Apocalypse, rumours spread that Hamm might have been cast as supervillain Mister Sinister.
That didn't happen, and the X-Men prequel trilogy fizzled out with the critically panned X-Men: Dark Phoenix movie.
Now that Marvel has the rights to X-Men again, the characters are widely expected to join the MCU in the near future.
And, those Mister Sinister rumours have circulated again for Hamm.
"Yeah, I don't know. Sometimes I find out more about my career from the internet than I actually find out from my agents," he said in a conversation with ComicBookMovie.
"So, I didn't really know that was in the works until somebody told me that I didn't get it or it didn't happen. I really don't know. Like anybody else, I would be thrilled to be part of that storytelling having been a big comic book fan throughout my early teens and early twenties, so we'll see
"I don't know. It would be a fun person to play, that's for sure. I look good in purple, I'll put it that way."
