Reviews & comments

After the second episode, this second season has the atmosphere of the first.

When mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) fills her room with ill's drawings, it immediately brings to mind the Christmas lights from the first season. And with that, the makers are a bit repetitive.

More interesting is the further development of the character Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who is now not only portrayed as a victim. While the main credits went to Brown in the first season, this season it is the young Noah Schnapp as Will Byers, who plays the stars of heaven and knows how to move with many intense scenes. Most annoying character is undoubtedly Erica Sinclair (Priah Ferguson), Lucas' younger sister.

Outlier is the totally misunderstood seventh episode in America, which takes place in the depths of Chicago and in which the character of Eleven takes on a completely different dimension and she thinks she finally feels at home with a group of outcasts (who, by the way, just don't use her special gifts). as abusive as the folks at the Hawkins lab). Part of the criticism in the homeland concerned the miserably bad acting Linnea Berthelsen as Kali and I can imagine that. Still, this episode certainly doesn't seem out of place to me, because Eleven/Jane can finally make the crucial choice to know where she really is at home.

The series concludes with a banging season finale with a delicious, and rightly so, sugary-sweet pink ending.

A fourth season has already been announced on the Imdb website. I'd say come on.

Very strong season, which I honestly enjoyed a bit more than season 1. It reminded me several times of Aliens and that's really only but positive.

The acting is top notch. Winona Ryder dropped her overacting, David Harbor remains tough and newcomer Sean Astin is a very pleasant addition. The children are now all comfortable in their roles and Dustin in particular remains a very sympathetic character. In addition, the interaction between him and Steve Harrington turns out to work amazingly well. I thought Steve was an annoying little man in the previous season, but he really steals the show here several times. In the end I even have to conclude that he is now my favorite character. New characters like Billy and Max also seem to work fine and I'm curious how they will fare in the next season.

The tension is good halfway through and it's great how they manage to keep this from start to finish for the last two episodes. The Demogorgons looked more believable, which also made them seem a bit more menacing. My compliments also for the decoration and soundtrack: the 80s atmosphere is prominent again and is an indispensable element in this series. That atmosphere is missing in episode 7, so it immediately seems as if you are watching a completely different series. The series then manages to pick itself up again with a finale that actually contains everything you hope for. The final ending is very touching.

At first I had my doubts about the hype, but this is definitely going in the right direction. I am now eagerly looking forward to season 3 and have even started Beyond Stranger Things.

4*

If the first season had Alien influences in the form of the Demogorgon, this season seems to be moving more in the direction of Aliens. After all, we're dealing with a whole bunch of demo-dogs right now. Unfortunately, this season feels a bit more predictable. Obviously you have to expose Will to heat to fight his "demons". You can see it coming from afar that Eleven will once again be the dea ex machina. Where the first season made me nervous from the tension, this season doesn't succeed at all.

Furthermore, a number of characters are introduced that do not seem to be very functional such as Max and Kali According to Hermans, in a classic story no sparrow should fall from the roof without having a consequence. By that logic, I hope more is done with these characters in the next season. 2.5* for this season.
