Bottom plot

Richie and Eddie live together in an upstairs apartment in the London Borough of Hammersmith. Together they struggle through a life of crisis and boredom as if in an orgy of destruction.

Bottom season 1

Richie and Eddie!

Still hilarious today. How many times have I reviewed seasons 1, 2 and 3. Hopefully it will happen dozens more times in my life. Bottom is epic, excellent, fantastic and excellent. Yes, I absolutely love this series. Terrible that Rik Mayall is no longer with us. Huge disappointment (still) that there are only 3 seasons. The same goes for The Young Ones. There are only two seasons of it. Richard Richard and Eddie Hitler: two crazy dudes who are and will remain timeless.

What do you think? Five stars of course!

Bottom season 1

Bottom is a British comedy series written by Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson, who also co-star. The series was co-produced by the British TV channel BBC.

Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson met in the late 1970s and a close friendship developed. In the 1980s, the two first appeared on TV together as the Dangerous Brothers in the comedy skits of Comic Strip Presents. In the early 1980s, the two broke through with the popular TV series The Young Ones. In 1987, they co-starred in the TV series Filthy, Rich & Catflap. However, this series was too much like The Young Ones and was canceled after one season. In 1991 the TV series Bottom appeared and this series also seems to be an extension of The Young Ones. Again, excessive violence is used and they both play a character who has trouble making money and getting a wife. Nevertheless, this series was a resounding success, both in England and abroad. The humor is not very intelligent, but the way Ritchie and Eddie are bashing each other's brains with various objects is hilarious.

This first season has yet to start and the brilliant humor is only noticeable here in the episodes Gas (in which they beat up a gas controller) and Apocalypse (in which Ritchie is told he has 3 days to live). The other episodes are also strong, but still lack that typical Bottom humor. The series got two more seasons as well as several live show appearances and an unofficial film adaptation in 1999 with Guest House Paradiso.

Bottom season 1

Weird, I like British humor normally, but I often found this too bland. Often too busy. No, at a single moment after I couldn't do much with this.
